Is it time for you to make a change? Back in the 1950's and 1960's 20% of Americans moved to a different home in any given year. Now that rate has dropped to an historic low of 9.8% according to the National Association of Realtors. One reason people are not moving as often is the two-earner household, which complicates relocations. Also, more people are able to work remotely so they don't necessarily have to work in the same city as where their company is located. However, Americans should start moving again. It is easy to stay in your comfort zone and become complacent. Let's face it, moving can be stressful, emotional, and a lot of work. But it can be exciting. A change of scenery change your whole outlook on life. For example, if you are living in an area with a high cost of living (high taxes), or undesirable weather, could you improve your lifestyle by relocating to an area that is more affordable? Getting more house or a better quality of life sure is an appealing reason to move. Are you tired of the house you have lived in for years? Does it need more updating that you are prepared to do? If so, it may be time to explore your options. It might not only make economical sense to make a move, but it could have a positive emotional boost. So, if you want to upsize, downsize, of just change the scenery (even if you stay in the same area). Oh, and by the way, interest rates are at historical lows. So, don't be afraid. Take the plunge and see what tomorrow can bring.
