Isle of Palms
The Isle of Palms is a long, narrow barrier island with the Intercoastal Waterway on one side and the Atlantic Ocean on the other. It was used only as a vacation spot and accessible only by ferry, until 1929 when a bridge was built connecting it to neighboring Sullivan's Island. This bridge opened up the island to permanent residents and has developed accordingly. The Isle of Palms offers pristine beaches and marsh creeks for outdoor exploration. Wild Dunes, a world class resort, is located on the island as well as a wonderful marina, great restaurants and shopping.
